Dave's Tourney Picks from a Bucket :)

Hello all!

If you want to join in the fun of the NCAA Tournament, I put up a bracket in Yahoo! Sports. It's under Dave's Bracket, and you can compete against me (for fun) just by going to yahoo.com, click Sports on the left hand side, and click on the NCAA tourney ORANGE icon around midpage.

The best part of my picks: I've picked them from a bucket, like I have the past 10 years. The funny thing is, I usually do as well as most that don't win pools do :)

Enjoy!!! You have about 35 minutes to sign up to try to beat my picks :)

The Ferris Buellering of the Primaries

Soooooooo...

Time to de-chap my ass.

Now let's see...reverend makes controversial comments. Candidate has to apologize. Hmmmm...did candidate make the comments? no. Did competing candidates make the comments? no.

It's time to lose the 'guilt by association' stuff in the Presidential Primaries. It is unthinkable that the candidates can control every single person they're associated with in their lives. Can you? No. Do this instead. Vote on the issues. Vote based on their voting record. Don't vote on something based on someone's best friend's sister's boyfriend's brother's girlfriend heard from this guy who knows this kid who's going with the girl who heard someone say something about someone.

And memo to the candidates: if all you have is 4th grade 'needer needer NEEDer' tactics (sing it to yourself...it's fun...lol) to try to beat your opponent, you're pathetic. Instead of worrying about petty stuff like that, worry about how you've voted on issues. Worry about where you stand on abortion, economics, education, global warming, and making nice with our former allies who this current President has alientated with his stands on issues in the past 7 plus years. Worry about how the next generations are going to live on this deteriorating planet. Worry about Hurricane Katrina victims. Worry about seriously addressing poverty. Worry about millions of Americans without health insurance. Worry about drug addictions that are swallowing up generations and neighborhoods. Worry about peace.

With still over 8 months to go before we in the U.S. vote for our next President, I implore voters to keep your eye on the ball. Don't be distracted by the shiny rhetoric and "A-HA! I GOTCHA!' moments. How did candidates vote on issues? Why did they vote on issues? What is their HISTORY on the issues? This is what matters. Time spent doing that is productive and a mouse-click away.

PLEASE don't spend another second worrying about some blowhard Reverend. There are plenty of other blowhards who run countries who are a bigger concern.

If you buy into guilt by association as it has been portrayed in this election, you are a loser.

Ahhh, i feel much better.

In Defence of Technology

HA!

Wow, I guess knockoffs of first-run movies (on torrent sites, et. al.) haven't hurt the movie industry one bit. Global box-office receipts reached an all-time high of $26.7 billion last year.

I guess the old schoolers that believe 'downloading bad' are going back to their caves to count their increased revenues, which can be partially attributed to the increased exposure gained from various online sources, including torrents and downloading. For most of us, the game changing to more of an online playing field is no big deal, but for industries that cry wolf because of the changing landscape of entertainment and distribution, it's Darwin. Adapt or die.

Oh, and here's my latest Dave Tripper video, a parody of "I'm F@cking Matt Damon."

Funny people rule

Ok, like the rest of the world, I've been viewing Mad TV's HILARIOUS parody of Rihanna's "Umbrella."

"Under Barack Obama" is brilliantly done, from the dance moves to the hysterical lyrics. And again, like the rest of the world, I've been watching Sarah Silverman's jab at her boyfriend Jimmy Kimmel in the form of her song, "I"m F@cking Matt Damon." And again and again, seemingly since it hit YouTube, I've been watching Jimmy's REVENGE in the form of "I'm F@cking Ben Affleck." Seriously, I haven't laughed like that in a LONG time...the "We Are The World" parody at the end of the song is so right on that Huey Lewis actually uses the same lyrical and vocal phrasing at the exact part where he sang the original in 1985. I LOVE attention to detail.

Well, I thought what if Sarah Silverman used me to get back at Jimmy? Here's the result: "I'm F@cking Ben Affleck, Matt Damon, and Dave Tripper."

Enjoy!
